Sol Rotary Go Further Car Rally to Reward Community Projects and Event Winners

Sol has joined with the Rotary Club of Tortola to host a car rally this Saturday, December 1. The Sol Rotary Go Further Car Rally is open to the public with registration forms distributed to patrons of Sol service stations in Tortola. The rally route will challenge the knowledge of teams as they pick up clues to take them from the starting and finishing point at the Festival Village Grounds. Sol is offering $5000 in cash prizes to event winners and will be giving an additional $5000 to benefit the Rotary Club of Tortola’s community projects.

First, second, and third place winners will receive $2,500, $1,500, and $1000 respectively with special Sol prizes awarded to the best team costume, the best decorated car, and the most creative Sol orange and blue team.

Interested participants can enter the Sol Rotary Go Further Car Rally when they fuel up with $30 or more of fuel at the Sol service stations before Friday, November 30.  Check in will take place at 10.00am at the Festival Village Grounds, Tortola on Saturday, December 1 and the rally will start at 11.00am sharp.

“The Rotary Club of Tortola in previous years has hosted the fund raising Rotary Fun Car Rally which was popular with several corporate teams as well as private teams of friends and family,” said Julien Johnson, chairman of the Rotary Club of Tortola car rally committee. “We were very happy when Sol approached us with a request to partner in a similar event for this year. The rally is a great way for us to engage with the public and raise funds for the many community projects that we run as a volunteer organisation. We anticipate that many drivers will be keen to join in the chance not only to win some free cash but to also be a part of the good will gesture extended by Sol."

Rotary Club of Tortola has planned the route with strategic clues that will take participants on an adventurous trip around Tortola. Participation rules will be distributed at the start of the rally. Category winners will be determined on the total number of correctly solved clues. Prize winners will be announced at the end of the rally.

The day’s activities at the Festival Village Grounds will include road safety demonstrations and challenges organised by Chris Ghiorse of BSAFE and by the Royal VI Police Force. Family fun, food, music, and entertainment has been arranged by the Rotary Club of Tortola car rally committee.
