Sol’s recent donation to the Barbados Tennis Association gave students at the Trinity Primary School the opportunity to attend the Davis Cup tennis action held on the island in February.
Through Sol's generous donation, the group of children were given the treat of witnessing Barbados take on Paraguay in a thrilling battle in which the home team came out victorious. The donation will also go towards financing transportation for the students to the Tennis Centre as part of their on-going coaching programme.
Gina Cummins, Group Marketing & Communications Co-ordinator with Sol (Caribbean) Limited, said this donation follows that made last year when they purchased 100 tickets to be distributed to local junior tennis players, through the Tennis Associations School’s initiative Programme.
“The Tennis Association works with tennis programmes at schools across the island to raise interest in the sport and matches Sol’s efforts to play an active role in the development of youth in the territories within which it operates. We believe that part of furthering the youth's development is facilitating their exposure to the highest standards, whether it is in sports, environment or education, and as such we remain committed to working with the Barbados Tennis Association in their attempt to push the local development of the sport through greater exposure to tournaments such as this," she added.
