The Barbadian public is being urged to join corporate Barbados in making an even greater effort this year, to actively participate in the recently launched Chefette Fun Run in support of the Aunty Olga Needy Children’s Fund taking place on May 19th

The encouragement has come from one of the events supporting corporate sponsors SOL CARIBBEAN LTD., as they also commended title sponsor Chefette Restaurants for taking the lead on the annual fundraiser.

Speaking at the official press launch for the event which was held at Chefette’s Corporate Offices, Wildey, St. Michael, Sol’s Group Marketing & Communications Coordinator, Gina Cummins, also said it was heartwarming to see corporate Barbados giving back to the children of Barbados.

“The Fun Run allows us to actively give back to these very deserving children through the Aunty Olga Needy Children’s Fund. It is also a perfect opportunity for us to involve our staff from the Head Office at SOL CARIBBEAN LTD., and the team at SOL (BARBADOS) LTD, who have already pledged their support of the event.”

Cummins said the level of corporate support from several local companies partnering with Chefette to sponsor T-shirts, water stops and prizes, aptly demonstrated how business and community could work together for the benefit of the society.

“We are encouraging all Barbadians to get into shape and come out to support the Fun Run on May 19th. Sol will be sponsoring water stops at Hastings Rocks and the Bay Street esplanade and we will be donating prizes to children who join in the Run. We are happy to see “children helping children” and we continue to be heartened by the many schools who participate in this event each year.

Also speaking at the launch, organiser of the Fun Run, Dawn Lisa Callendar-Smith said this year’s event promised to be even more fun, with special prizes on offer including an “Auntie Olga look-alike prize”. She also encouraged all schools to challenge perennial winners St. Winifred’s and Convent for the prize being awarded to the largest school contingent.

This year’s Run will start at Chefette Rockley moving along Highway 7 onto Bay Street, then to Independence Square and Fairchild Street, turning left onto Bridge Street, and Wharf Road onto Hincks Street to Princess Alice Highway, before turning right onto Prescod Boulevard and finishing at Chefette Fontabelle.
