Sol continues sponsorship of local motorsport with ‘June Rally’

Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal will be competing in their Shell Rimula/Shell Spirax/Simpson Motors Isuzu D-Max

Sol has once again reaffirmed its commitment to local motorsport through the sponsorship of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) longest running event – the Sol Go Further June Safari Rally, affectionately known in wider circles as the ‘June Rally’.

Sol has renewed its partnership with the BRC to host the 57th edition of the Caribbean’s most gruelling navigational rally, exactly one month after the resounding success of the immensely popular Sol Rally Barbados 2013, the Caribbean’s largest annual motorsport International.

“This year represents Sol’s second year of association with the Barbados Rally Club’s longest running rally event, and the company is proud to reinforce the link between vehicle performance and fuel economy to its performance fuel offering in Sol Go Further,” said Kirk King, Sales and Marketing Manager, SOL (BARBADOS) Ltd.

Several MudDog competitors, whose larger-than-life vehicles represent the pinnacle of innovation and engineering, have already confirmed their participation in the two-day event. They will tackle a route that tests their navigational prowess and ability to overcome preset challenges, as well as the naturally occurring terrain of the rugged Barbados countryside.

Action gets underway on Saturday, June 29th at Sol Redman’s Village Service Station where fans will have an opportunity to get close to the MudDogs and their impressive machinery before they set off at 3p.m.

Competitors will then stop for dinner at Sol/Chefette Speightstown between 6 and 7p.m. This will be their last opportunity to fill their tanks before a gruelling 140-kilometre night stage that will not pass an open service station. Their next official fuel stop will be at Shell Six Roads on Sunday morning.

In addition to sponsoring the event, Sol will also present each competing crew with a $100 Sol Go Further fuel voucher. The company will also be supporting veteran competitors and course setters Leslie Alleyne and Chris O’Neal in their immaculately prepared Shell Rimula/Shell Spirax/Simpson Motors Isuzu D-Max.

“The Rimula and Spirax brands of heavy-duty engine oil, gear and transmissions lubricants will be especially important in ensuring the machinery keeps functioning at its optimum. We also want to wish Leslie and Chris the very best, and we will be rooting for them every mile of their journey. We look forward to ‘going further’ with the BRC and the MudDogs this weekend,” added King.
