Sol Caribbean Supports the Barbados Summer Arts Festival’s Photography Competition

On Friday, June 15, 2012, a press conference held at the British High Commission in Barbados, announced Sol Caribbean’s support of the Barbados Summer Arts Festival.

Sol Caribbean’s Group Marketing and Communications Coordinator presented a donation towards sponsorship of the Sol Caribbean Mirror Photography Competition themed, “Arts in Motion”. The competition invites both local and international photographers to showcase their best images which reflect the unique qualities of the Caribbean.

Mrs. Cummins confirmed “Sol is pleased to be associated with the Barbados Arts Festival and more specifically the Sol Caribbean Mirror, Photography Competition. Art is a reflection of our lives; it echoes who we are as a people, what we like and where we aspire to be. We are excited to see the end products which will emerge from this competition.”

Celebrated Barbados photographer, Ronnie Carrington, launched the Arts in Motion photography competition at the ceremony. He commented that the goal of Arts in Motion was “to bridge the gap between the world of the arts and the world of business, and to assist people in making a profit from their photographic passion.”

The seven categories within the competition are:

Celebrating the Caribbean Woman
Inspiration Through Sport (In celebration of the London 2012 Olympics)
City Life
Healthy Living
Our Children, Our Future
Our Natural Environment and Climate Change
The Open Category (The Open Category allows unrestricted manipulation of camera-created images in exploring the art of photography).
 

There will be three prizes awarded in each category:
1st – US $1,000
2nd – US $750
3rd – US $500

Submission of entries closes on Tuesday 31st July, 2012.
