Sol in Barbados is pushing ahead with its youth development and outreach programme as evidenced by the company’s latest contribution to the Kickstart Football Club.

Recently, Sol made a donation to the Club to assist with the purchase of uniforms for its senior team, an example of Sol’s expressed commitment to work closely with the Club.

Kickstart Football Club has been widely commended for its sterling work with its members, with Gina Cummins, Group Marketing & Communications Coordinator with Sol (Caribbean) Limited, stating that what has been noteworthy is the discipline instilled in them:

“The Club allows kids to be exposed to a diverse range of persons from all walks of society while operating as a team. Coaches enforce discipline and a very strong culture exists among all members; with the senior boys doing all they can to assist with the development of the juniors. It is this kind of teamwork which Sol commends, which is why we saw it fit to lend our support to the enhancement of this programme.”

Director of Coaching at Kickstart, Michael Porter, said the Club has maintained a firm focus on the development of a close-knit, family type atmosphere at the Club, ensuring its members feel comfortable, while also expressing the importance of discipline, not only for the sport of football, but in life:

“We are very grateful for Sol’s assistance with purchasing uniforms for our senior team and we look forward to proving to them that their money is well spent. We have developed a great programme here at Kickstart, with a high level of team spirit, which has facilitated the execution of a number of successful fund raising activities. We have raised money to assist team members with overseas tours, the purchase of equipment etc; and with our new home here at the FCIB/CIBC Sports Club Grounds, we will be able to put greater emphasis behind these efforts.”

The senior team currently participates in the Barbados Football Association’s Division 2 competition, having been recently promoted from Division 3. The Club also facilitates a number of overseas tours, with one currently being planned to California in the United States for July of this year.

Over the last few years Sol has been making a concerted effort to play an active role in the development of youth in the territories within which it operates. The company has become heavily involved with the Barbadian community, particularly at the junior school level as evidenced by the partnerships it has forged with institutions such as the St. Mary’s Primary, Westbury Primary and the Wesley Hall Junior School.

Sol believes that part of furthering the youth’s development includes facilitating their exposure to the highest standards, whether it be in sports, environment or education and in light of this will continue its work assist with ensuring such opportunities are realised.
